A lighthouse is not a home for most of us unless you maintain it. However the light from the lighthouse at night give a symbol of HOME to sailors that have been traveling long away from home for months.
If you have been out at sea for months, any sign of home is a great comfort and relief. When I was traveling oversea or away from home for months, I miss the home. A familiar meal (cup noodles) onboard the plane bring some level of comfort even though the food is horrible. As they said ” Home sweet home”
